UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met with the Chief Adviser of the Bangladesh Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus. They met and held a brief meeting on Thursday (September 26) at 2pm local time on the sidelines of the United Nations General Session.

In the meeting Antonio Gutrerres said that the United Nations is ready to work closely with this government besides welcoming various reform initiatives taken by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. At this time Antonio Guterres congratulated Dr. Muhammad Yunus on taking over as Chief Adviser to the interim government.

An important time for the people of Bangladesh Guterres applauded Dr. Yunus for his determination and leadership.

The UN Secretary-General appreciated the close cooperation between the UN and Bangladesh, including Bangladesh's contribution to peacekeeping and reiterated the UN's readiness to support Bangladesh in the ongoing transition and reform process.

The Secretary General and Principal Adviser also discussed the Rohingya refugee crisis and climate change. 

The leaders of Chattogram Metropolitan (North) Islami Chhatra Shibir alleged that there is a conspiracy to obstruct the joint movement of Chhatra Dal-Chhatra Shibir. They strongly condemned and protested against the false and fabricated information circulated by various media against the organization.

Nagar Chhatra Shibir North President Fakhrul Islam and Secretary Tanzir Hossain alleged that a statement sent to the media against the 'false news' on Thursday night (September 26).

In the statement they said, there is no organizational activity of Islamic Chattra Shibir in Chattogram College. We have no affiliation with any recent events.

According to the statement, Islami Chhatra Shibir was not involved in any incident that took place with Chhatra Dal in Chattogram College on Thursday. Every time after a conflict incident there is a process of purposefully invoking the name of Islamic Chattra Shibir, which is very sad and baseless.

Shibir leaders alleged that a conspiracy was afoot to disrupt the joint movement of Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir against the fascists. As part of this conspiracy, false and misleading information is being spread against the Shibir.

President Fakhrul Islam said that such propaganda is being carried out to disrupt the success of our movement and attempts are being made to weaken national unity.

He said that some workers of our friendly Chhatra Dal have also become victims of this conspiracy. But we want to make it clear that our unity cannot be destroyed by spreading such baseless news. We are committed to protecting national unity and will resist all conspiracies.

Islami Chhatra Shibir Chattogram Metropolitan North Branch informed that the organization will continue to fight against all kinds of conspiracies and false propaganda in the future as in the past. The leaders of the Shibir urged the countrymen not to be misled by such false propaganda and to be aware of the real stand of the organization.

Earlier, on Thursday (September 26) around noon, five leaders and activists of the college branch Chhatra Dal were attacked in Chattogram College. The college student body has alleged that the Chattra Shibir has carried out the attack. 

The government has removed all the councilors of the 12 city corporations of the country.

Shamsul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives, announced this information in a notification on Thursday (September 26).

The notification of removal stated that the councilors of these city corporations of Bangladesh have been removed from their respective posts by applying section 13A of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024.

Before this, the government removed all city corporation mayors, upazila parishad chairman and municipal mayors.

It has been raining in Kishoreganj for the past few days. Sometimes intermittent, sometimes continuous heavy rains. In this, people have to learn to do their normal work in irony. Umbrellas are needed both during very sunny weather and rain. That is why seasonal artisans also sit on the roadside. In all the upazilas of Kishoreganj, many people have retained this traditional profession. They sit once a week on market days. But if it rains heavily, they come to the market every day.

On Thursday (September 26) the traditional haat of Katiadi upazila can be seen on the surface, 10 to 15 umbrella artisans are sitting. Every craftsman is having a busy time repairing umbrellas. The artisans said that this is their extra income.

Umbrella craftsman Abdul Mannan said, this profession is my 50 years. Apart from agricultural work, I go to market once a week. Now the umbrella is destroyed in a short time before there was a strong umbrella. An umbrella was used by people for a long time.

Mana Mia, another craftsman, told Barta24.com that this is my seasonal job. Come one day a week. All acquaintances come to the market to fix umbrellas on this day. If rain increases, our income increases.

Jasimuddin, who came to repair the umbrella, said that we always need umbrellas. There is no way to escape from the heat of the sun and if it rains, there is no way without an umbrella. So I am bringing the necessary umbrella to be repaired.
