Tk. 7 crore received in 7-hour counting at Pagla Mosque
Kishoreganj: 29 bags of taka have been found in 11 donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj. After seven hours of counting, Tk. 7.2 crore have been received so far.
The money was found after counting till 4 pm on Saturday (November 30). It is believed that the counting may continue till night.
Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Rupali Bank, Kishoreganj branch Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
The donation boxes were opened in the presence of Pagla Mosque Committee President, Kishoreganj District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Khan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Rubel Mahmud, senior army officers, responsible administration officials and police. A record 29 bags of taka were found in 11 donation boxes and a tank of Pagla Mosque. Later, the work of counting the money began on the second floor of the mosque complex.
Earlier, on August 17, 10 donation boxes of Pagla Mosque were opened. Then, Tk. 7 crore 22 lakh 13 thousand 46 was received in 3 months and 26 days. In addition, a large amount of foreign currency and gold ornaments were found in the donation boxes.
Earlier, on April 20 of the same year, 9 donation boxes of Pagla Mosque were opened. Then, a record Tk. 7 crore 78 lakh 67 thousand 537 was received which broke all past records and created a new record. In addition, a large amount of foreign currency and gold ornaments were found in the donation boxes.
The donation box of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj was opened four times in 2023. A total of Tk. 21 crore 87 lakh 85 thousand 181 was received four times. In addition to money, a large amount of diamonds, foreign currency and gold ornaments were also found.
