Over 50 injured in dog attack in Savar
At least 70 people have been injured in dog attacks in Savar, near Dhaka. Of these, 15-20 people who were seriously injured in bites have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Mohakhali Infectious Diseases Hospital for advanced treatment.
The incident took place on Tuesday (December 10) evening in Savar's Radio Colony area along the Dhaka Aricha Highway.
Most of the injured are said to be pedestrians. The injured in the incident are receiving treatment at the Savar Upazila Health Complex and the local Enam Medical College and Super Hospital.
The injured said that a black dog attacked pedestrians in the Radio Colony area in the evening. During this time, the dog bit and scratched several people. It started jumping on pedestrians as soon as it saw them. In this way, the dog went from Radio Colony towards Genda Bus Stand. It attacked whoever it found on the way.
A person who was injured and was seeking treatment at the Savar Upazila Health Complex said that as soon as he parked his motorcycle in front of the Savar CRP gate, a black dog jumped on him and tried to bite his hand.
The doctor in charge of the Savar Upazila Health Complex said that they have received 54 injured patients in dog attacks since evening. Some of them, who are in serious condition, have been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
