The most politically persecuted party in the country was released through the July Movement, said Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling of the July 2024 Revolution Martyr Memorial organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the National Press Club Auditorium on Wednesday (February 5).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, as a responsible party, we think Jamaat-e-Islami has something to do. We were also martyrs in the July 24 movement. Just as the entire nation was freed through the movement, the most persecuted political party was also freed in the same way. Therefore, it is necessary to express gratitude to this generation. We have gone to the families of the martyrs to pay respect to them and seek blessings from them. Because they are fortunate, their families gave their lives for the country.
He said, some history is of joy for people, some is of sadness, and some is of glory. Especially those who gave their lives for the country, they also gave their lives in the past, in ‘47, the language movement of ‘52 and ‘71 and most recently on July 24. Their history is glorious.
He also said that the media that have come here today were also not free from the clutches of fascism. At that time, they also had to give their lives, suffered torture in the name of remand. Those who waged a war of words and pens while sitting abroad, their families have been harassed and imprisoned on the soil of the country.
He said that the names of those who were fascist rulers in the past have also appeared in religious scriptures. Everyone has to suffer the same fate. The sad thing is that fascists read history, but do not learn from it. The history of our country is a history of distortion. Many have written the history of the country according to their own opinions.
Amir said that Abu Sayed's martyrdom was a turning point in the July Movement. The son of an innocent family created new history. He knowingly gave his heart to be martyred. Abu Sayed told the rest of the martyrs along his path, "My brother, we also want to step on the steps of martyrdom." The martyr brothers told his family, "If we become martyrs, don't cry about it. This shows how oppressed the people of the country were." Finally, he said, "We have found a non-discriminatory, humane and beautiful Bangladesh." Therefore, I want to tell the political parties and their partners, do not do anything incompatible with the revolution. If you do, the souls of the martyrs will suffer, their blood will be insulted. And those who are still alive will suffer greatly and curse them.
