Jubo League office secretary Anis expelled
Jubo League, the youth front of the ruling Awami League, has expelled its central committee office secretary Kazi Anisur Rahman ‘for breach of discipline’.
The expulsion was made at a presidium meeting of the organisation held on Friday (Oct 11) at its central office in the capital with its general secretary Harunur Rashid in the chair.
Sources in Jubo League said the organisation decided his expulsion as media reports highlighted the involvement of Anis in illegal casino operation and other sorts of corruption.
Confirming the matter to Barta24.com, Jubo League presidium member Sheikh Atiar Rahman said the expulsion decision was made unanimously.
Anis joined Jubo League office as a ‘peon’ in 2005 at a monthly salary of Tk 5,000. He was later made office secretary of the organisation.
There are allegations that he amassed wealth worth hundreds of thousands of taka using the names of influential members of Jubo League.
Sources said Anis is under the watch of the law enforcement agencies for his involvement in illegal casino operation and may be arrested anytime.
Jubo League president Omar Faroque Chowdhury, who is accused of protecting casino kingpin and Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Samrat, did not join the Friday meeting which began around 10am.
