Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has expelled its BUET unit Deputy Law Affairs Secretary Amit Saha for his alleged involvement in the murder of the university student Abrar Fahad.

A media release undersigned by BCL central committee acting President Al Nahian Khan Joy and acting General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya confirmed the expulsion on Monday (Oct 14).

The statement said though Amit Saha was not present at the ‘place of occurrence’ at the time of the incident, conversations through social media platform prove that he was involved in the incident.

It said Amit, one of the 19 arrested over Abrar Fahad murder, has been expelled permanently as his involvement in the murder incident was proved in ‘further investigation’.

Chatra League leaders and activists of BUET unit allegedly beat Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department, to death on Oct 6 over a Facebook post.

Abrar’s father filed a case accusing 19 BCL leaders and activists of the murder while the central committee of the student front expelled 11 of them.
