Jatiya Party to move for Ershad’s proportional representation: GM Quader
Terming the existing electoral system 'faulty' Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader MP said they would move for implementing proportional representation and federal government, proposed by late chairman of the party, HM Ershad.
He was addressing at meeting with representatives of Jatiya Party Dhaka city (North) at Emanuel's Convention Center Auditorium in the capital’s Gulshan on Monday (October 28) afternoon.
The Jatiya Party Chairman said, "We have made alliance in the last election, but we are not tailing behind. If we did, we could have a position in the cabinet. We raised our voice in Parliament, however, didn't do any destructive activity."
GM Quader said, “The Jatiya Party is one of the three main parties in the country. We cannot stay out if the major parties form alliances. So we took part in the election as part of an alliance. We are doing what what is needed.
"We have to wage movement, if needed," he said.
