French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit.
He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (September 10) around 8 pm.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed the French President at the airport. This is the first visit of a French president to Dhaka in the last 33 years.
It is known that after reaching Dhaka, President Macron will attend the banquet organized by the Prime Minister. Then on Monday (September 11) morning, he will pay tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi. Later, Macron will participate in a summit meeting with Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister's office. There two bilateral agreements between France and Bangladesh will be inked.
Both leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference after signing the bilateral agreement.
Macron is the first leader to visit Bangladesh after former French President Mitterrand in 1990. The government of Bangladesh and France hope that the existing friendly relations between the two countries will reach new heights through Macron's visit.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron attended the G20 summit in Delhi. After the conference he came to Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also attended the G20 summit in Delhi. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Dhaka a few hours before the French President arrived in Bangladesh.
