Chhatra League leader involved in attack on Khaleda Zia's motorcade arrested

DMP's Tejgaon Police Station has arrested a Chhatra League leader, who was the accused in the case filed in connection with the attack on Begum Khaleda Zia's motorcade while she was participating in an election campaign at Karwan Bazar in the capital. The arrested person has been named as Md. Abul Hasan (40).

He was arrested in a drive in the capital's Monipuri Para area at around 4:15 am on Friday (January 3).

DMP's Media Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed this information at around 10:15 pm on the same day.

He said that on April 20, 2015, the election campaign for the post of mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation was going on in Karwan Bazar. Begum Khaleda Zia participated in that election campaign on behalf of BNP's nominated candidate Tabith Awal. Abul Hossain, the accused in the case filed at Tejgaon Police Station on August 22 in connection with the attack on the campaign convoy, has been arrested.

Police sources also learned that the arrested Hasan is the senior vice-president of Tejgaon Police Station Chhatra League. A regular case has been registered against him at Tejgaon Police Station.

Further legal action against the arrested person is in the process.
