Noting that the United States wants free and fair elections, Abdul Momen said, "We also want the same." They are helping us. We ourselves want a fair and impartial election. If we do this, America will be with us. They are our friendly country. Not only elections, we have different relations with them. America has always been pragmatic.
He said, we will tell them (US) to include those who are trying to disrupt the elections in the visa policy. Let them do whatever they want – those who will obstruct the election. We do not want to destroy the democratic system. America believes in democracy. We are with them, they are with us.
Mentioning that the friendly countries of Bangladesh give advice on various issues at various times, the foreign minister said, if others have good advice for transparent and fair elections, we accept it. We welcome it. We are not scholars. We will not tolerate those who are drunk.
In response to a question about participatory elections, he said, if people are involved, if people vote, then it is participatory. Almost 50% of the people vote in our elections. Elections are always uncontested in America. Senator Kennedy, Senator John Kerry, no one contests them. No one contests an honorable man.
