EC orders transfer of UNO across the country

The Election Commission EC has taken the decision to transfer the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) to make the upcoming 12th National Parliament election free and fair.

This information was conveyed to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary of the Election Commission Mizanur Rahman on Friday (December 1).

In the letter, the EC said that the Election Commission has decided to transfer all the Upazila Nirbahi Officers in a phased manner for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad Elections. In the first phase, those Upazila Nirbahi Officers who have completed more than 1 (one) year of service at their current place of employment are required to send the transfer proposal to another district to the Election Commission by December 5.

In another development to make the upcoming 12th JS election impartial and fair, the EC requested the government to transfer all the Officer in Charge (OC) of all the police stations across the country in phases. Ministry of Home Affairs has already issued instructions in this regard.

In the circumstances, it is humbly requested to be directed to take necessary action as per the said decision

In this year's national parliament election, the total number of voters across the country is 11 crore 96 lakh 91 thousand 633 people. The Election Commission (EC) released the final voter count for the parliamentary elections on November 2. According to the information provided by the EC, 6 crore 7 lakh 71 thousand 579 of the total voters are male voters. 5 crore 89 lakh 19 thousand 202 women voters. And the number of Hijra voters is 852.
