Head of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) Masood Biswas said that there is no ongoing investigation against business firm S Alam Group and there are no plans or instructions to investigate in the future.
In response to a question, he said that our statement was not properly reported in the media. We have said that our activities are going on as per the instructions given to us. We have not said anything that an investigation is being or will be. If we had done any investigation, we would have written to the banks. I used to get information from the banks. But no such letter was given anywhere from our side.
In another question, Masud Biswas said, "We have not found anything negative against the chairman of S Alam Group or his family." A group is trying to confuse this issue by using some journalists and they are actually spreading the news with wrong information. But the matter is nothing like that. We have said that everything will be done as per the court's directions.
He also said that I have contacted the media where the wrong news has been published, informed them about the wrong news and also informed the Bangladesh Bank spokesperson about the matter.
It is to be noted that two online news portals and online versions of newspapers published reports under the headline that investigation is underway against S Alam Group, citing BFIU chief Masood Biswas, which he termed as baseless.
