The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested two directors and three others of Transcom Group, the country's one of the largest industrial group, on charges of embezzling hundreds of crores of Taka and illegally transferring shares.
They were arrested from Gulshan in the capital on Thursday (February 22). PBI Dhaka North Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter on Thursday night.
The arrestees are - Transcom Group Legal Adviser Fakhruzzaman Bhuiyan, Director (Corporate Finance) Kamrul Hasan, Director (Corporate Finance) Abdullah Al Mamun, Manager Abu Yusuf Md. Siddique and Company Secretary Mohammad Mosaddeq.
Jahangir Alam said, Shajreh Haque, a daughter of late Latifur Rahman, the founder of Transcom Group, filed a case with Gulshan Police Station as the plaintiff. Five officials of the group have been arrested in that case.
According to the police, Shajreh Haque has filed this case alleging embezzlement of Tk 100 crores of Transcom Group, possession of property and illegal transfer of shares of the company.
Special Superintendent of Police Jahangir also said that proceedings are underway to bring the case to PBI for investigation.
