Coconuts have been imported from India for the first time in the country.
On Thursday (February 22) afternoon, 50 metric tons of coconut was imported in two trucks from Tamil Nadu, India through Hili Land Port of Dinajpur. Coconuts are being imported at USD 250 per metric ton.
A company named M/s Nasat Traders of Hili land port imported these coconuts.
Noor Islam, the importer of Hili land port, said that due to the demand of coconut in Bangladesh, 50 metric tons of coconut has been imported from Tamil Nadu, India in two trucks. These coconuts will be sent to different parts of the country after completing the port operations.
