Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Anwarul Azim has been killed, said the West Bengal Police of India. They call it 'murder' based on several pieces of evidence. However, the police have not yet recovered his body.

West Bengal Police organized a press conference on this incident on Wednesday (May 22).

In that press conference, West Bengal Inspector General of Police (CID) Akhilesh Chaturvedi said that the police have not yet found the body of Bangladesh parliament member Anwarul Azim. However, based on some evidence, they believe that he was killed.

He also said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the West Bengal Police has taken up the task of investigating the incident properly.

In response to a question from reporters at the conference, he said, "We have received some specific information, based on which it is believed that he was killed."

The West Bengal CID chief said that the flat in which Anwarul Azim stayed in the New Town area of East Kolkata belongs to Sandeep Kumar Roy, an officer of the Excise Department of the West Bengal government. A person named Akhtaruzzaman rented the flat from Sandeep. It is being investigated whether Akhtaruzzaman arranged the stay of Anwarul Azim in that flat or not.

To unravel the mystery, the police searched the apartment in Sanjeevani Garden, an elite residential area of Kolkata's New Town.

The official did not say anything specific about whether anything was found in the flat or whether any traces of blood were detected during the search.

The forensic department of the police has started working on this. He also mentioned that progress has been made in the investigation.

Akhilesh Chaturvedi said that some people came to this flat with Anwarul Azim, but we cannot say anything about when they left, for the sake of investigation. It is understood that he came here on May 13. But we still do not know whether he came before that or not.

CID officer Akhilesh Chaturvedi did not want to say anything about whether the body of Anwarul Azim was killed or dismembered.

It may be noted that Anwarul Azim went to Kolkata for treatment on May 12. On May 18, his acquaintance Gopal Biswas filed a diary with the police in Kolkata. It is said that Anwarul left the house on May 13. Then he did not return. He called and informed me that he was going to Delhi for special work. On May 15, he sent a message saying that he is in Delhi. There is no trace of him since the 17th.

On Wednesday, Gopal Biswas was quoted by some media as saying that he was informed by the police that the police recovered the body of Anwarul Azim from a flat in Kolkata.
