Syeda Rizwana Hasan, who has received the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the interim government, said that it has been decided to take measures to stop the harassment cases against the anti-discrimination student activists and the previous harassment political cases.
She said this at a press briefing after the cabinet meeting of the Advisory Council at the State Guest House Jamuna on Friday (August 9) afternoon.
Stating that the term of the interim government headed by Dr. Muhammad Yunus has not yet been determined, she said that the main goal of the interim government is to reform the country first.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will meet the family members of those killed in the movement while the injured will be treated well.
Stating that the proceedings in the High Court are closed at present, she said that the Law Adviser has been given responsibility in this regard. He along with senior lawyers will take measures to speed up the initiation of proceedings.
She said, there will be opportunities to work as advisers with student representatives in various ministries. The structure of how they will be involved will be explained later.
This adviser said there are certain laws that you are also subject to harassment. For example, ICT Act, Digital Security Act. Now again Cybersecurity Act. Even though the ICT and Digital Security Act have been repealed, many are in jail, being punished, and cases are pending. They will be brought within the harassment case. And how these laws will no longer be used against free expression will be discussed later.
Regarding the opening of educational institutions, Rizwana Hasan said, besides bringing back the educational environment, educational institutions will be opened as soon as possible in accordance with the law and order situation.
The adviser of the interim government said that the genocide must be tried in such a way that such incidents never happen again. We want justice for every bullet.
She said that religious minorities and tribal communities are being attacked in some places. Defense Zones will be created in collaboration with organizations representing local residents.
