Late MP's grave vandalized, fire in Chattogram

An allegation of vandalizing and setting fire to the grave of Moin uddin Khan Badal, former Member of Parliament (MP) of Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgaon) Constituency has been raised.

Selina Khan, the wife of the former Member of Parliament, said that the incident took place at the family graveyard in Sarwatali village of Boalkhali upazila on Tuesday (September 17) afternoon. She complained about this to the local police station.

Selina Khan gave the details of the incident on social media Facebook. She wrote, 'Some terrorists came today (Tuesday) afternoon with a car and vandalized and set fire to the grave of Moinuddin Khan Badal's ancestral house. ... People cannot live in peace even in the grave now.'

In the pictures and videos spread on Facebook, it can be seen that the fire is burning on the grave. Signs of vandalism were seen in and around the grave.

Selina Khan said miscreants came with a car and vandalized trees, gates and nameplates above the grave. Then they set fire to the grave. After learning about the matter, they complained to the police station.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) former working president Moinuddin Khan was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time from Awami League-led Grand Alliance from Chattogram-8 Constituency in the 9th JS Elections in 2008. After that, he was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 10th JS in 2014 and in the 11th parliamentary elections in 2018. He died on November 7, 2019. He was buried next to Sarwatali's house.

Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Sarwar said, after hearing the complaint, we went to the spot and found the truth of the incident. The matter is being investigated.
