Contraband goods worth Tk. 1.5 crore seized in BGB raids in Feni

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth approximately Tk. 1 crore 62 lakh 76 thousand 800 in separate operations in the three upazilas of Fulgazi, Chhagalnaiya and Parashuram border area of Feni north.

BGB conducted raids in different parts of the upazila till Thursday (September 26).

This information was informed in a press release sent to the media from Feni Battalion (4th BGB) of BGB on Friday (September 27). However, it was not possible to arrest those involved in smuggling these products.

According to the press release, these seized goods brought into the country illegally include Indian sarees, sugar and medicines.

A patrol team of Subar Bazar BOP seized illegal Indian drugs worth Tk. 7 lakh 7 thousand 300 in Tultali area of Parashuram in the district on Thursday morning.

Earlier, on Wednesday (September 25), in a separate raid on intelligence information, 5 thousand 830 kg of sugar, 18 sacks of Indian cloth and another 28 sacks of Indian cloth were seized from the abandoned house of local Khairul at Jayanagar on the border of Chagalnaya in the district at midnight. The estimated value of these products is Tk. 1 crore 33 lakh 35 thousand 500.

Besides, in the same upazila in the evening, the patrol team of Madhupur BOP of BGB seized 4 sacks of illegal Indian cloth worth Tk. 20 lakh 2 thousand.

The patrol team of Tarakucha BOP of Phulghazi seized two sacks of Indian cloth worth Tk 2 lakh 32 thousand from Fenapshkuruni area on the same day.

In this regard, BGB's Feni Battalion (4 BGB) commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharf Hossain said, BGB's various activities are continuing to protect border security and stop smuggling. The process of submitting the seized smuggled goods to the customs office is underway.
