The government (Awami League) has gone but the thieves have not gone. Everything is still happening, the syndicate is happening, the extortion is also being raised. Earlier they used to take one taka, now they take fifty paisa. They used to eat openly, now they eat secretly. But everything is going on as before.'

The words were spoken by Abdul Hakim, the egg trader of Shewrapara kitchen market. He has been trading eggs here for more than 10 years. When asked the reason for the increase in the price of eggs, he expressed his anger in this way.

Going to the market on Thursday (October 3), it was seen that a dozen farm chicken eggs were being sold at Tk. 170 which was 155 to 160 taka last week too. Duck eggs are being sold for Tk. 230 to Tk 240 per dozen.

Abdul Hakeem, the owner of Henna Traders, told Barta24.com that the price may have increased due to increased demand. I can't say the exact reason. We sell as we buy from the wholesale market.

Stating that his sales volume is increasing, this seller said, where earlier I used to sell 2500 eggs a day, now I am selling 4000 eggs. As the price of fish increases, it is natural that the price of eggs will increase. At the same time, he blamed corporate producers for manipulation.

On September 15, the Directorate of Animal Husbandry fixed the production, wholesale and retail prices of eggs to keep the price of eggs normal in the market. According to that country, each egg is priced at 10 taka 58 paisa at the producer level, 11 taka at the wholesale level and 11 taka 87 paisa at the retail level. However, consumers have to pay at least two taka more per egg.

Regarding the increased price of eggs, the buyer Suruj Talukder said, I bought eggs last week for 160 taka per dozen, now I came and saw that it has increased by 10 taka. Now it is about to decrease, so why is it increasing? Government should look at the price of daily necessities.

Talked to housewife Taslima Khan in Ibrahimpur kitchen market. She said, came today and saw that the price of eggs has increased in the space of a week. Now even if the price has increased, since we have to eat, we have to buy it at a higher price. A few days ago I saw in the news that eggs are coming from India. Now I see that the price has increased. I don't understand how it happens.

Most of the consumers expressed their anger at such upward trend in the price of daily necessities. Consumers also demand that the government pay extra attention to product prices.
