Physically challenged dwarf Dabir Khan. Height 3 and half feet. Dabir's wife and only son are also physically challenged. All are short in height (dwarf). Despite being a disabled family, Dabir's life was relatively good. He bought a battery operated van with a loan from a local NGO. He used to drive the specially made van on the advice of the maker and add to the debt installments and household expenses.
On September 26, Dabir's specially designed battery-powered van was stolen from the yard of his home late at night. Dabir's family of 4 is distraught after the van is stolen. One is burdened with installments and the other is family expenses.
Dabir is the son of Ahmed Khan of Khurdda megchami village of Sadar Union of Baliakandi Upazila of Rajbari.
Talked to him on Saturday (October 5) afternoon he told Barta24.com that he is in a lot of trouble since the van was stolen. I don't know how to manage the family. On the other hand, there is installment pressure. About 500 takas is to be paid in installments every week. One day, if the wheel of the van does not turn, the wheel of the world does not turn. After the van went missing, some local people are providing some financial support. I buy rice with that money and run my family.
How many days’ people will support me like this. If a kind hearted person would have arranged a van for me, I could have survived on rice with my family. I have no wealth other than my house. I never thought that the van of a helpless person like me would be stolen.
Dabir's neighbor journalist Golam Mortaba Riju told Barta24.com that Dabir is a very helpless person. His family is disabled. Even though he is disabled, Dabir is a hard working human being. He runs the family by working instead of begging. We the people of the area are helping him as much as we can. But a new battery powered van costs around Tk. 50,000. It is not possible for Dabir to collect so much money. If those who are rich in the society come forward, maybe Dabir can buy a van again.
