An eight-member committee has been formed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to monitor harassment cases against the journalists working in the media. It is known that this committee has been formed in view of various harassment cases against journalists working in the media recently.
This information was informed in an office order of the ministry on Monday (October 7).
The eight-member committee is chaired by the Additional Secretary (Broadcasting) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. And as the member secretary there is the joint secretary (press) of the ministry.
The committee will monitor various harassment cases against journalists working in the media as well as inform the authorities about the cases from time to time.
The remaining members of the committee are - Principal Information Officer of Information Directorate, representative of Law and Judiciary Department (of the rank of District Judge), Director General of Film and Publication Directorate, Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust, Director General of Bangladesh Press Institute and Secretary of Bangladesh Press Council.
