Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government said that the search committee will be formed soon for the formation of the Election Commission. They will decide who will be the Election Commissioner.
He said this at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Saturday (October 19) night.
Referring to the existing law, a search committee will be formed to appoint the Election Commission, Mahfuz Alam said, no political pressure or interference will be accepted in the formation of the search committee.
The committee will decide who will be the election commissioners. When the commissioners come, the next task is the election. Talking to the political parties will be formed in a non-partisan neutral way. Also updated voter list will be provided.
Mahfuz said the Chief Adviser has spoken to many political parties on elections and reforms. Besides, the massacre of Awami League was discussed. There has been talk about the instigators of the genocide. There has also been talk about the increase in commodity prices.
Stating that Awami League has discussed three illegal parliaments, he said that they were elected illegally. Jatiya Party has given silent support to Awami League by participating in the polls. It has been discussed that the Jatiya Party was a friend of fascism.
In response to a question about banning Awami League, he said that the interim government will not take any decision on this matter. The decision will be taken after discussion with the political parties.
