There have been many rumors about the current whereabouts of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Finally, putting an end to all speculations, Indian media ‘The Print’ has clarified the current whereabouts of Sheikh Hasina.

A report in ‘The Print’ on Thursday (October 24) said that former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is currently living in a safe house in the Lutyens' Bungalow zone of the capital New Delhi.

The Print said that Sheikh Hasina has been given a house in Lutyens' Bungalow, like the houses allotted to ministers, senior MPs and top officials of the Indian government, according to her status. To protect Sheikh Hasina's privacy and security, The Print has decided not to disclose the exact address or street details of the house.

Sources said that Sheikh Hasina occasionally goes out for a walk in Lodhi Garden with proper protocol for security reasons. The source said, ''She (Sheikh Hasina) has been living in that area for more than two months. All arrangements have been made for her staying here.''

Citing sources, The Print said that Sheikh Hasina and some of her close associates arrived at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on August 5 in a Bangladesh Air Force C-130 plane. She was evacuated from the Hindon Air Base two days later due to lack of adequate accommodation. Later, she was accommodated in a house in Lutyens', a safe and secure area of Delhi.

Although the Indian government has not officially disclosed Sheikh Hasina's whereabouts to the Bangladesh government so far, the country's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar told Parliament last August that Sheikh Hasina had sought permission to come to India at short notice.

The Print has sent telephone calls and text messages to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to inquire about this. However, this Indian media outlet has not received any response from the ministry till the time of publishing the report on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina's daughter Saima Wazed is working as the regional director for South-East Asia at the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Delhi, India. She is the first Bangladeshi to hold this position. Saima Wazed currently lives in Delhi.

It is worth noting that Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5 in the face of protests. Later, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) established by Sheikh Hasina in 2010 issued arrest warrants against the former Prime Minister, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and 44 others on charges of "crimes against humanity" committed during the student protests in July and August. The warrants against Sheikh Hasina and other political leaders were issued by the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal, Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder.

The front of Cyclone 'Dana' has hit the Odisha-West Bengal coast of India. Currently, its speed is increasing to 125 kmph. It will remain active till 6 am today, Friday (October 25), the Meteorological Department has said. Due to its impact, there is a possibility of scattered heavy rainfall in five divisions of Bangladesh.

According to the latest update of the West Bengal Meteorological Department at 5:30 am on Friday (October 25), Cyclone 'Dana' has started making landfall. It is making landfall in a strong manner. The landfall process will continue for another one to two hours. The cyclone's landfall process started at 11:12 pm on Thursday. The front of the cyclone is crossing the land between Bhitarkanika and Dhamara in Odisha. At this time, the speed of the storm is 100 to 110 kmph. The maximum speed is 120 kmph.

Earlier, the weather forecast had said that due to the impact of the cyclone, huge waves would be seen on the coast of West Bengal. The height of the waves could be from 9 feet to 14 feet. Accordingly, coastal residents were warned in advance. Red alert has been issued in four districts. Lakhs of people from the coast have been evacuated.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that due to the impact of the severe cyclone, moderate to heavy rainfall has occurred in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions since 3 pm on Thursday.

In addition, a person named Ashraf Ali was killed when a tree was crushed by the impact of the cyclone in Barguna. In Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali, 7 houses were destroyed by strong winds in Deuli village due to the impact of the cyclone. Three people were injured in this incident.

Meanwhile, the Navy jetty broke in two due to the impact of the cyclone's tidal water at Inani Beach in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. The collapse of the jetty will disrupt travel to St. Martin Island at the beginning of the current tourist season, according to those concerned. 

At least 115 more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military strikes in the besieged Gaza Strip in the past 48 hours. In addition, 487 more were injured during this time. With this, the number of injured has reached 100,282.

The report also said that many people are still trapped under the rubble in northern Gaza. Israeli forces have prevented rescue teams from reaching there to rescue Palestinian citizens. This is expected to increase the death toll.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Health Ministry said that 13 people, including a child, were killed in an Israeli attack near Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut. Another 57 people were injured in the incident.

Palestinian health authorities claimed that more than 10,000 people are still missing under the rubble of destroyed houses across the Gaza Strip. Israel has continued its brutal attack on the besieged territory despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the UN, about 85 percent of the Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced due to Israel's brutal attack. And all of Gaza is now food insecure amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Note that at least 42,718 people have been killed in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since October 7 last year. Another 100,282 were injured during this time.

On the other hand, 1,139 people have been killed in Hamas attacks in Israel. More than 200 Israeli citizens are being held captive.

The US-made advanced anti-missile defense system 'THAAD' has finally been deployed in Israel. It was reported a week ago that the US was going to supply 'THAAD' to protect Israel from Iranian missile attacks.

On Tuesday (October 22), Indian media outlet First Post reported this news, quoting US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

According to the report, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Monday that the advanced anti-missile system has been deployed in Israel.

On October 1, Iran launched missile attacks targeting Israeli military bases, air force bases and the building of the country's central intelligence agency Mosad. Israel admitted that the Israeli air force base was severely damaged.

In the wake of this attack, Israel launched a missile attack on Iran and the United States provided this 'THAAD' to protect it from Iran's missile attack in response to that attack.

'THAAD' and its features:

The short name of the missile defense system is 'THAAD'. Its full name is 'Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense'.

It uses sophisticated radar. It contains powerful missiles to destroy enemy missiles, rockets or warplanes. 'THAAD' can instantly destroy ballistic missiles that come within 150 to 200 kilometers. Its capabilities can be said to be absolutely perfect.

'THAAD' can destroy surface-to-surface, surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles. It is manufactured by the US arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin’s.

Journalists asked US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin whether THAAD was operational. In response, Lloyd said that THAAD was deployed very quickly and was able to operate as expected.
