Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana said that the commission is thinking about deploying the army whether BNP participates in the elections or not.

She said that measures will be taken to deploy the army as per the need. Even if the army is in the field, they will have no judicial power, as there are legal barriers to it. Nothing will be done in violation of the law. They (army) will act as a striking force.

In response to a question, she said, we want as many registered parties as possible to participate in the election; It is our sincere wish that the election should be participatory. In continuation of that, we have repeatedly called those who do not want to come. If they come, CEC said, we will definitely consider the schedule. We will think about how they can actually support them, that they have that opportunity; But it must be within the constitutionally given tenure. There is no way we can go beyond January 28, it is a constitutional obligation.

When asked whether the election can be called participatory if BNP does not participate, the Election Commissioner said that there are 44 parties registered in the commission. Out of these 30 parties are participating in the elections, which means that the majority have come. But the election law does not say that all parties must come. How do we bring those who do not come willingly? We tried to bring them. It is not that the election will not take place if they do not come. The election will be done within the law, there is no obstacle. We will welcome them when they come.

The Election Commissioner said that those who are in prison also have the opportunity to vote; They can vote within the prison authorities if they want to through postal ballot. If desired, expatriates or those involved in election work can also vote in accordance with the law.
