The time has come. There are only a few more days to wait. After that, the curtain will rise on the international trade fair. Every time the fair starts at the beginning of the New Year, but this time due to the national elections, the date has been delayed. According to the information of the organizing authority, the fair is going to be inaugurated on January 20 or 21.
It is known that the main attraction of this year's fair is the design of various establishments modeled on various development projects of the government. Along with this, like every year, the main attraction of the fair is the Bangabandhu Pavilion, which is being built in a slightly different way, which is modeled on the historical house of Road No. 32 of Dhanmondi.

Talking to the workers working on the construction of the pavilion, they said that they are in the last minute preparation stage. It can be seen that some are busy cutting bamboo and wood, some are busy with welding, some are busy with construction of stairs.
The trade fair ground can be seen on the surface, the Padma bridge-like structure has been built on both sides of the main gate located on the side of the road. Right next to it, the building modeled after the reactor of Rooppur nuclear power plant is located. As soon as you enter through the gate, the various pavilions coming to the fair are arranged one by one. The bamboo-wood work of some is finished, the construction-artists are busy with the work of scratching the paint.
This time, the trade fair is going to be inaugurated on the 20th or 21st after several time changes. Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Vibek Sarkar confirmed this information to Barta24.com on Sunday.
He said that the beginning of the trade fair mainly depends on the head of government. He said, the new cabinet has been formed. State Minister of Commerce has taken charge of the ministry. Now we can fix the date in a day or two. So far we have planned and prepared to inaugurate the fair on January 20 or January 21 as possible dates.
He also said that all kinds of preparations for the fairground are going on. The work of the main gate is also going on in line with the development activities of the head of government.
The Dhaka International Trade Fair has been organized since 1995 by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau in a joint initiative to promote, spread, market, and support local products. In previous years, this fair was organized in the open ground adjacent to the Bangabandhu International Conference Center inside Agargaon of the capital, but considering various problems including traffic congestion of the capital's residents, the fair had been organized near 300 feet adjacent to Purbachal in the last two years.
The 27th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) was held for the second time in Purbachal last year. The fair was organized with the participation of a total of 331 pavilions, stalls and restaurants in various categories which is 40 percent more than in 2022.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan said after the fair that products worth Tk. 100 crore were sold in the 27th edition of the fair. AHM Ahsan said that in the 27th International Trade Fair, about Tk. 100 crore worth of products were sold in a month. Apart from this, export orders worth around Tk. 300 crore have been received. Compared to last year (2022), both sales and export orders have increased in this trade fair. Out of this, sales increased by Tk. 20 crores and export orders increased by Tk. 100 crores. In the 26th fair, sales were Tk. 80 crore and export orders were over Tk. 200 crore.
