The State Minister said that this summer the electricity demand may exceed 17500 megawatts. That's how preparations have been made. There will be no crisis if the fuel supply is correct.

According to the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) production statement on March 11, 13 power plants were completely shut down due to gas shortage, while 3 had partial production. The total production capacity of those 16 power plants was 3011 MW and produced only 194 MW.

On that day, 8441 megawatts of electricity production wasshort due to all kinds of energy crisis. On March 11, 11,713 MW was supplied against the demand of 11,862 MW. PGCB has reported evening peak load shedding of 149 MW only in Mymensingh zone.

Demand for electricity is high during peak hours (evening). At that time it was decided to close CNG filling stations to increase gas supply for power generation. In the new schedule issued on the occasion of Ramadan, CNG filling stations will be closed from 5 pm to 10 pm. Earlier, CNG filling stations were closed for 5 hours from 6 pm to 11 pm.

In the past, the schedule of markets and shopping malls used to be somewhat restrained. In response to the question whether there is any such plan or not, the State Minister said that it will continue as it is currently.

In response to a question, he said that fuel prices will be adjusted in the first week of every month. If the price decreases in the international market, it will decrease, and if it increases, it will also increase accordingly in Bangladesh.
