Many foreign organizations like ADB, World Bank came forward to invest in Padma Bridge. But for the post of MD (Managing Director) of a bank, foreign investment was blocked. There were as many complications as there were problems with that position. According to the Bank Act, an MD can stay for up to 20 years. He was already 70 years old. He was age barred. Then how could he remain MD of the bank. Why is a Nobel laureate so fond of a mere MD post? I never got an answer to this question.

She said, for this post, ambassadors of big countries come to my office and speak loudly to my officers. They were told that if there is no post of MD, foreign funding will stop. Hillary Clinton, Sherry Blair called me for the post of MD. Representatives from different countries also came. I just told them what honey is in this MD post?

She said this as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Padma Bridge project on Friday (July 5).

The closing ceremony and reconciliation rally has been organized in the field adjacent to Padma Setu North Police Station. Inauguration of Padma Bridge and Rail Link Project ceremony was held in this same field.

The Prime Minister said that those who used to use word of mouth, their mentality has changed after the construction of Padma Bridge. The socio-economic door of the people of the southern region has been opened for this bridge.

Regarding the organization of this event, the head of government said that usually there is no closing ceremony at the end of any project. But many storms have passed over the Padma Bridge. This event is to thank everyone associated with this bridge.

He said, Padma bridge is the bridge of our pride. One decision changed our image. The people of the world give us honor. 

22 people are receiving Agriculture Important Person (AIP) Award-2021. In the light of AIP Policy-2019, they have been selected in 5 categories in recognition of their significant contribution in the field of agriculture.

Three persons have been selected as AIPs in the category of Agricultural Organizations recognized or registered by the Government. They are Shaikh Siraj, Managing Director of Channel I, a distinguished media personality for his important contribution to agricultural development through various programs on agriculture, Sahela Abedin, founder of Chattogram-based organization Tilottama, as an environmental organizer, and Shikha Rani Chakraborty, president of Satkhira's Dandiya CIG Women's Cooperative Society, as a cooperative entrepreneur.

The people selected in the variety or technology innovation category are - ACI Agribusiness President AKM Farayezul Haque Ansari, Cumilla's Daudkandi Upazila farmer MA Matin, owner of Janata Engineering for agricultural mechanization, Md. Oli Ullah and Fakirhat Upazila Chairman Swapan Kumar Das of Bagerhat for using organic pesticides.

10 people have become AIPs in agricultural production, commercial farm establishment and agro processing industries. They are the agricultural entrepreneur of Madhupur of Tangail district for the cultivation of high quality fruits Sanowar Hossain, Shahida Begum, owner of Khan Bij Bhandar, Faridpur for onion seed cultivation, Sureshwar Mallik, agricultural entrepreneur of Dumuria, Khulna, for best use of land by producing companion crops, Md. Ruhul Amin, Green Planet Agro, owner of Jibannagar, Chuadanga, for fruit cultivation. Chairman of Agro-Based Socio-Economic Development Services of Raiganj Upazila of Sirajganj for working to solve water logging. Sakhawat Hossain and Amirul Islam, proprietor of Tanmoy Dairy Farm in Ishwardi, Pabna for milk production.

Two have been selected for AIP in the exportable agricultural produce category. KM Sabuj, Director of Living Art Garden of Gazipur Sadar Upazila for Tree Plantation and Bonsai Nursery and Agricultural Entrepreneur Moha of Gomastapur, Chapainawabganj, Baromasi Mango Grower Rafiqul Islam.

Three have been selected as AIPs in the gold medalist category of the Bangabandhu Agriculture Award Ram Nibas Agarwala, owner of Annapurna Agro Service of Domar Upazila of Nilphamari, producer of organic fertilizers and earthworms Maya Rani Baul, owner of Amit Dairy Farm of Nawabganj, Dhaka as a commercial agricultural farmer and agricultural entrepreneur of Atgharia Upazila of Pabna, who is a successful seed producer Abdul Khalek.

As per AIP policy, AIP awards are given in total 5 categories every year. The validity period of an AIP card is 1 year. AIPs enjoy the same benefits as CIPs. These include a certificate from the Ministry, entry pass to enter the Bangladesh Secretariat, invitation to civic receptions at various national events; Seat reservation priority in government-run public transport during travel by air, rail, road and water; Priority will be given to cabin facilities in government hospitals for treatment of self and family members and use of VIP lounges at airports. Agriculture Important Person (AIP) Policy has been formulated by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2019. This award has been given since 2020. 13 people received the AIP award in 2020.

The 2021 AIP Awards will be formally presented at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on July 7. The Minister of Agriculture Dr. Md. Abdus Shahid will be the Chief guest and State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury will be present as a special guest. AIP selections for 2022 and 2023 are reportedly underway. 

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been re-appointed as Inspector General of Bangladesh Police on contractual basis.

His contract was extended by another year in a notification signed by Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, Deputy Secretary, Contracts and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, on Friday (July 5).

According to the notification, according to Section 49 of the Public Service Act, 2018, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been re-appointed as Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police for a period of 1 year from the date of joining on July 12, 2024, in continuation of his previous contract and on similar terms. .

Earlier, in a notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on January 9 last year, the government had extended the term of Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as IGP by one and a half years in the first phase.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BCS 8th batch officer was born on January 12, 1964 in Srihail village of Shalla upazila of Sunamganj. He holds a BA (Honors) in Sociology from Chattogram University.

He joined Police Force as ASP in 1982 as a 1986 batch officer of BCS (Police) cadre. He was promoted to the post of Additional IGP in May 2021. Earlier he was the DIG of Dhaka range.

During his career, Abdullah Al-Mamun served in the Police Headquarters, Metropolitan Police, Armed Police Battalion and various important units in different districts. Besides, he made a brilliant contribution to world peace by working in the United Nations peace mission.

He received the President's Police Medal (PPM) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the workplace. He was scheduled to retire on January 11, 2023.

Despite having the opportunity to work in a multinational company after completing his MBA, Rabiul Alam Biplob chose journalism and is now a small entrepreneur. He currently works at the daily Kaler Kantho newspaper and has young Bangladeshi journalist Rabiul Alam Biplob established himself as a successful freelancer. Alongside journalism, he began working in affiliate marketing and Google AdSense in 2009. His freelancing career started with just $100 in 11 months. Now, he prefers to introduce himself as an entrepreneur.

Rabiul Alam Biplob graduated from Carmichael University College with a BBS (Honors) in Management in 2008 and completed his MBS in 2009. He obtained an MBA in Human Resource Management from Dhaka International University in 2010. Throughout his student life, he worked as a journalist for various local and national newspapers. Despite the opportunity to work in a multinational company, he did not join, aiming to become an entrepreneur alongside journalism.

He joined local newspapers Daily Ganalo and later the Daily Mayabazar as a staff reporter. While working at Mayabazar, he launched an outsourcing column and received encouragement from the then executive editor, Abdur Rauf Sarkar, to establish an IT firm. He founded the BPEUS IT Center, initially employing 30 unemployed youths. He later established two more IT firms in Pirgachha, Rangpur, and one in Sundarganj, Gaibandha, to create employment for rural unemployed youths. He overcame the barrier of broadband internet connectivity in rural areas by setting up a 120-foot-high tower for radio link broadband internet.

With the earnings from outsourcing, he started Biplob Travels and founded Biplob Rural Development Organization, a private development organization registered with the Department of Social Services. Biplob shares that his journey to becoming a successful freelancer required patience, taking 11 months to earn his first $100. He believes that those choosing freelancing should be patient and skilled, as success in this field requires perseverance. He emphasizes that experienced freelancers should assist newcomers and that aspiring freelancers should build their skills and begin working patiently.
Discussing the challenges of freelancing in Bangladesh, he notes that the absence of PayPal poses a significant problem, and the quality of internet services is inadequate. Mobile operators sell megabytes on a pre-paid system instead of offering unlimited monthly connections like broadband. Additionally, international credit cards are not easily accessible to the general public, which hampers online purchases of domains, hosting, and other services. Biplob believes these issues need to be addressed to advance freelancing in Bangladesh further.
