Thousands of students blocked Shahbagh with a protest march as part of the ongoing movement demanding the abolition of the quota system in government jobs and the reinstatement of the circular issued by the government in 2018. After staying at Shahbagh for an hour, they announced to block all the roads of Bangladesh including the capital and called it 'Bangla block'.

On Saturday (July 6), the protesters left the road after an hour-long blockade at Shahbag intersection from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. At that time, Nahid Islam, a student of Sociology Department of Dhaka University, one of the organizers of the protesting students, announced their next activities.

Nahid Islam said, 'Bangla Block' program will be observed from 3 pm tomorrow. College and University students will come down not only at Shahbag intersection, but also at ScienceLab, Chankharpool, Neelkhet, Motijheel in Dhaka city. Students outside Dhaka will block the highways in districts, universities.

Calling for the opening of the libraries of DU, he said, "We request the authorities of DU to open the central library and science library of the University for the Students to study." Otherwise we will open them ourselves.

It should be noted that at this time he requested teachers, parents and students who have not yet joined the movement to join the movement.
