Syed Abed Ali, a former driver of PSC, has confessed in court in the case of leaking questions of 30 recruitment exams in the last 12 years, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exam. Sources said that in the confession he gave the names of the cadres.
According to the source, now an organization has started the work of preparing the list of names given by Abed Ali.
Full beard, cap on head. Abed Ali, a former driver of the Public Service Commission (PSC), who is known as a religious person in the area, has been criticized across the country.
Abed Ali's home is West Botla village of Baligram union in Dasar upazila of Madaripur. Abed Ali, who went from being a railway station porter to a rickshaw puller, then a PSC chairman's driver to become a millionaire, is known as a demon in his area.
It is known that Abed Ali was the driver of Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, a former member of the Public Works Commission (PSC), who was convicted in a corruption case. He used to have a group under his leadership. They were responsible for acquiring customers.
Prof. Mahfuzur has been accused of irregularities and corruption in the 27th BCS oral examination including taking bribe. Prof Mahfuz's name was on the first list of 50 suspected 'corrupts' released by the Anti-Corruption Commission during the Fakhruddin Ahmad-led caretaker government.
There is a discussion, Abed Ali got involved in this cycle of questioning by his hand. In the last 12 years, he has leaked at least 30 question papers of government recruitment exams including Bangladesh Civil Service Exam. Various information is being collected about those who have become cadres in the question given by him. Some have been kept under surveillance.
When asked about this, CID Additional Superintendent of Police Himel Chakma, investigating officer of the question leak case, said, "I don't want to comment on this right now."
However, sources related to the investigation said that many of the BCS batches have become cadres due to the question of Abed Chakra. Now the information provided by the arrested persons is being verified.
In the initial interrogation, Abed Ali said that he is the owner of hundreds of crores of money. He owns a six-storey house, three flats and a car in Dhaka. The village houses have duplex buildings. If a driver owns hundreds of crores of rupees, how many thousands of crores of takas do those who worked for PSC own?
Sources also said that at least 25 crore transactions have been made in Abed Chakra's bank account in the last three months. CID with the help of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit has seized bank account documents of 17 accused.
Sources said that multiple money laundering cases may be filed by reviewing these documents.
Special Superintendent of Cyber Investigation and Operations of CID Tauhidul Islam said, we have got evidence that 17 arrested persons including PSC officials were also involved in the leak of question papers of railway recruitment exam held on July 5. He said that this syndicate was also involved in some other examination question papers.
According to local sources, the rise of Abed Ali started in 2004 by giving a job to one of Dasar Upazila in the Roads and Highways Department. After that, he has provided 'jobs' to many people in the area.
Although he is a driver, Abed Ali introduced himself as a businessman in the area. Everyone except family and neighbors knew he was an established businessman in Dhaka.
When Dasar was declared a new upazila after Kalkini was broken, Abed Ali started campaigning to become upazila chairman. He was trying to create an image as a demon in the area. He and his son Siam used to travel with two cars worth crores of taka in the area. He also donated money to local mosques, temples, orphanages and various social organizations.
