The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection has conducted raids in the daily commodity markets in 17 districts of the country to keep the prices stable. Meanwhile, 30 companies were fined a total of Tk. 2 lakh 23 thousand.

The Directorate of Consumer Protection announced this information in a circular on Friday (October 18).

According to the notification, on Friday, operations were conducted to stabilize the prices of daily necessities including vegetables, eggs, broiler chickens, potatoes, pulses, onions, garlic, ginger and edible oil in all departments and districts of the country including the capital. The raids were conducted by Consumer Rights along with a special task force.

On this day, 5 teams under the leadership of 5 officials of the Directorate conducted market raids and market surveillance activities in Dhaka Metropolitan area. A special operation was conducted on the basis of information that Bismillah Store in Mohammadpur Krishi Market of Dhaka Metropolis was selling eggs at a higher price than the government fixed price. The operation was conducted by the Assistant Director of the Dhaka district office of the directorate Abdul Jabbar Mandal.

During the raids, evidence was found that each egg was sold at 13 taka 33 paisa instead of the retail price set by the government at 11 taka 87 paisa and as a precaution, the company was fined Tk. 30 thousand as it promised to sell eggs at the price set by the government in the future.

Meanwhile, raids were conducted at an egg supplier named Albania International in Baitul Aman housing area under Adabar police station. The organization was fined Tk. 50,000 for various crimes including not keeping cash memos for buying eggs, not having carbon copies of cash memos for selling eggs, and selling eggs at prices higher than the government's fixed price.

Also, this campaign was conducted simultaneously in 17 districts of the country including other divisional cities. 30 institutions were fined a total of Tk. 2 lakh 23 thousand through the operation of 21 teams across the country.

It has also been informed that this activity of the directorate will continue to protect consumer rights.

Brahmanbaria District Jubo League Vice President Sumon Mia has been arrested with weapons by the joint forces.

He was arrested from the Madhyapara area of the district town on Friday (October 18) around 9:30 pm.

After searching his residence an illegal pistol, an empty cartridge and three rounds of ammo were found. Later he was handed over to Sadar Model Police Station.

From Thursday (October 17) this activity of young people started by selling eggs at Bahaddarhat intersection of Chattogram city. On Friday (October 18) they sold eggs at two junctions in Chawkbazar. Their egg selling program will continue until the syndicate is broken.

The brain of a young man named Mohammad Arif is behind this initiative to sell eggs at a fair price. Later he was joined by Mohammad Imran, Rezaul Karim, Md. Salim, Md. Sohail, Mohammad Saiful Islam, Abdus Sukkur, Masood Ahmed, Imam Hasan and Noor Zaman are nine other youths.

On Thursday afternoon, these young people sold 3000 eggs at two junctions in Bahaddarhat. They started selling eggs in front of Oli Kha Mosque in Chawkbazar and at Golza intersection on Friday afternoon due to massive response and people's request. On this day, they handed over 6,000 eggs to people. On Saturday (October 19), the youths hope to sell eggs at GEC intersection or Andarkilla area.

On Friday around five o'clock in the afternoon, he was seen lying on the van at the intersection of Golza. Crowd of people around. There was so much selling that the young people were not even getting a little leisure time. They were not giving more than 1 dozen eggs to each person. But since women can't leave home most of the time, young people give them the opportunity to buy one and half dozen eggs.

Taking some time out from his busy schedule, Mohammad Arif, the head of this initiative, spoke to Barta24.com. He said, "The unbearable increase in commodity prices, common people are not able to eat even an egg." There are many houses that could not buy eggs for a month or two. It is very distressing to us. We think of this initiative from that thought. Discussed with friends but they also responded because we also love the country. We also have to do something for the country. Now if many more young people come forward after seeing us that will be our success.

Mohammad Imran, Rezaul Karim, Md. Salim said, because of the syndicate, the price of every product has increased. We are thinking that if we bring eggs directly from the farm and carry out such activities, the syndicate will be destroyed. We want the syndicate to be destroyed and the people to win.

Mohammad Arif said that he did not take this initiative to sell these eggs in the hope of profit. He said, "If we can buy eggs from the farm and sell them at a fair price, why can't the egg traders?" Even if they made a profit of 10 taka per dozen, the dozen of eggs was not supposed to be more than Tk. 150. But how come the price of eggs is 170-180 taka?'

Veteran Gazi Mohammad Nurul Islam Shah appeared at the spot with a red and green flag on his head to encourage the youth. He said, "The price of everything is increasing due to syndicates, crooks and profiteers. This gang wants to destroy the second freedom we got by grabbing the hands of the youth. We common people will resist it by taking various initiatives like this.

Mohammad Forkanul Islam, a member of the traffic police, was also standing in line with other people to buy eggs. He told Barta24.com, 'This initiative of the youth is really commendable. Due to such different religious initiatives, ordinary people can also eat eggs.

From vegetables to daily essentials, the prices in the country are beyond the reach of common people. People are gasping for such an increase in commodity prices. Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, called on the interim government to bring the price of goods within the purchasing power of the people in such a situation.

He made this call at a view exchange meeting in the capital's Mirpur on Friday (October 18) afternoon.

Addressing the interim government, Hasnat Abdullah said, you should bring the price of goods within the purchasing power of the people. Otherwise, people can come down on the streets against it at any time.

He said we will call on this interim government; your talk of new political arrangement will not enter our stomach until you can bring the price of goods within the reach of common people like us.

Coordinator Sarjis Alam was also present on the occasion.

Mentioning that Awami League leaders and activists are trying to take advantage in various ways by changing their character, Sarjis Alam said that the people of fascists are trying to create division in various ways until the elected government comes. It will not be possible to implement the spirit of the ‘24 movement if we cannot handle petty greed.

He said, until a government elected by people's vote does not come, those who were friends of the fascists will change into different forms and divide into different groups and come among you. Greed will create different interests among you and finally create a conflict between one group of you and another group and harm you and they will take advantage.
