A private car lost control and ran over seven students in front of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Uttara, the capital. Three students were seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 12:30 pm on Sunday (October 27).

Airport Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mustafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said, I heard that an accident had occurred in the airport area around 12:30 pm. Three students were injured in the incident. Two of them had broken their legs and another had a minor head injury. After the accident, the police went to the scene and seized the private car.

He also said that the private car driver himself is the owner. He has been brought to the police station. The injured have been sent to (NITOR) Pangu Hospital.

Meanwhile, a video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the viral video, it can be seen that 7 students were walking on the road opposite the third terminal. At that time, a white private car came from behind and ran over them. After the car hit the students, several students were seen falling on the road. Later, people from the surrounding area came forward and rescued the injured students.

A legal notice has been sent to initiate investigation under relevant sections of the ACC and Money Laundering Act against all MPs elected in the last three national parliamentary elections of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government and the Election Commissioners (ECs) deployed in the elections.

On Sunday (October 27), Supreme Court lawyer Md. Anwarul Islam (Shahin) sent this notice to the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

It said that 153 MPs were elected unopposed in the 2014 elections. The elections in 2018 were held in the dark of night and the 2024 elections were rigged internally, where almost all the MPs were people who were the favorites of fascist Hasina or were her subordinates. In order to reform the state, all the perpetrators of misdeeds and their associates, including the elections held in the last 15 years of the failed government, must be brought under the law.

It is further said that especially in the farcical elections of 2014, 2018 and 2019, the members of parliament elected without votes or through vote theft, the ministers of the Hasina government, the members of parliament elected from parties supporting the Awami League such as the Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance, and the election commissioners involved in those elections have misused their power and amassed a huge amount of illegal wealth. The countrymen firmly believe that the majority of that wealth has been smuggled abroad. In this situation, notices have been given to start investigation and proceedings within three working days under the relevant sections of the ACC and the Money Laundering Act against all the members of parliament elected through conspiracy in those general elections and all the election commissioners involved. Failure to do so will result in legal action.

14 people have been shown arrested for the genocide organized during the student-public uprising in July-August.

The International Crimes Tribunal showed their arrest on Sunday (October 27). They have been ordered to be produced on November 18.

On the basis of the application of the prosecution team, the three-judge judicial panel led by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, gave the order. The other two judges are Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Justice Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

The arrested were former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt. Col. (retd.) Faruq Khan, former Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, former Information and Communication Technology (ICT) State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment advisor Salman F Rahman, former Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, former State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, former Textiles and Jute Minister and Gazi Group Chairman Golam Dastagir Gazi, former Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's power and energy advisor Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, controversial Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, who was relieved of his military service, and former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam.

The investigation agency has found primary evidence of the massacre organized in July-August against all of them.

Earlier, the tribunal issued separate arrest warrants against 45 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the genocide case on October 17.

On that day, the International Crimes Tribunal issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August to eliminate the anti-discrimination student movement.

The judicial panel led by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, in the temporary court of the International Crimes Tribunal, took note of the application filed by the prosecution and issued this order.

In addition, arrest warrants were issued against 45 people, including former minister Obaidul Quader and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, in the genocide case in July-August.

They have been asked to be arrested and produced before the tribunal by November 18.

When the tribunal's proceedings officially began that day, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam applied for the issuance of an arrest warrant on behalf of the prosecution.

The International Crimes Tribunal was reconstituted on October 14. The next day, on October 15, they joined the International Crimes Tribunal.

Essayist, researcher, literary critic and social analyst Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque has been appointed as the President of Bangla Academy for the next three years. Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque is replacing Selina Hossain at the Academy.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Thursday (October 24).

The notification stated that according to the Bangla Academy Act, intellectual, renowned essayist and researcher Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque has been appointed as the President of Bangla Academy for a period of three years from the date of assuming office subject to conditions.

The condition was mentioned that the duties and other functions of the President will be regulated as per the ‘Bangla Academy Act, 2013’.

Last year, Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque said in a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of his birthday that the youth now want new leadership. There is no discipline between Awami League-BNP in Bangladesh and Congress-BJP in India. Democracy has now been taken to electoral system all over the world. This needs change now. New leadership, new political parties are needed now.

84-year-old Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque was born on September 30, 1940 in Pakundia, Kishoreganj. He has taught in the Bangla department of Dhaka University for four decades. He is the convener of the State Language Bangla Raksha Committee, which is vocal in ensuring the use of Bangla language at all levels.

He is particularly known for his neutral political thoughts and theories. His works are rich in homeland thoughts and political thoughts. He expressed his views on national and international events with a progressive mind. He received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981.
