Biman is hiring 40 pilots and 100 cabin crew
Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to hire 40 pilots and 100 cabin crew. It will also hire 38 new officers in various departments of the airline.
Not only that, some retired officers who have done very good work in the past may also be hired on a contractual basis. Sources said that apart from this, 90 helpers will also be hired in the traffic department. In total, the state-owned flag carrier Biman is going to hire about three hundred manpower.
Currently, the state-owned flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is suffering from a pilot crisis. Due to the shortage of pilots, it is becoming difficult for Biman to operate regular flights. In addition, Biman will face problems even if it starts flights on new routes or increases the number of flights on existing routes. Therefore, despite its desire, the authorities are not able to increase flights even on profitable routes. Cabin crew will be hired in proportion to the number of pilots because the cabin crew crisis has also been going on for a long time.
Currently, the number of pilots in Biman is 186. However, they need about 250 pilots. That is, the state-owned flag carrier still has more than 60 pilots short.
An airliner, on condition of anonymity, told this reporter that pilots are losing interest in Biman jobs. The main reason for this is that the financial package is not competitive. Biman, however, believes that the financial package is not the only issue. There are other reasons for this.
He also said that the pilot recruitment process in Biman is quite complicated because various interests are involved in it, which is a big problem. There are also some other issues; which are not possible to explain. Biman appoints permanent, contractual and some pilots in other ways.
Biman's newly appointed Managing Director and CEO Shafiqur Rahman said that the first priority of the new management authority will be to restore professionalism in the airline. This is a much-awaited demand of the airline. There is no alternative to professionalism to restore the glory of the state-owned flag carrier. Currently, the lack of skilled manpower is the major crisis of Biman. And that is why the management authority is starting the process of recruiting new manpower in various departments of the organization.
Along with this, the new management authority is also working to establish discipline in the airline. For example, the Managing Director and CEO of Biman said that no seat block will be allowed in ticket reservations. Every seat is easily available on every flight online. Strict monitoring is being done in this regard.
Getting luggage on time at the baggage belt is another important step of Biman. In addition, strict security measures have been taken to prevent luggage theft. Even the Biman flight catering center has been brought under strict security
