BNP to hold seminar on 31 points for state reform
BNP will hold a seminar focusing on the 31 points formulated for the purpose of state reform. The event is being organized at a hotel in the capital on November 23. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, members of the Standing Committee, leaders of the coordinated movement and election boycott political parties, including prominent figures, will participate in it.
When asked about this on Friday (November 8) night, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said, "I have heard about the seminar."
As part of the political commitment of the joint movement, the party announced '31 points for state repair' on July 13 last year for the purpose of 'democratic reform of the constitution and state system and economic emancipation.
These 31 points were BNP's commitment to the forces that were simultaneously agitating against the Awami League along with other parties including the Democracy Platform.
Earlier, on December 19, 2022, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman announced the party's 'Outline for Repairing the State Structure'.
In 2017, Khaleda Zia officially presented 'Vision-2030'. However, her political declaration actually came earlier on March 19, 2016, at the BNP's Sixth National Council.
At that conference held at the Engineers Institution, Khaleda Zia said that if her party comes to power, it will make the Jatiya Sangsad bicameral. In addition, a balance will be brought to the executive power of the republic to eliminate the sole power of the Prime Minister. An upper house will be established in the parliament to eliminate the centralized power of the state. She said, 'BNP will take necessary steps to make the Jatiya Sangsad bicameral.'
These reforms are mentioned as significant in the 31 points of the BNP.
