Home Affairs Adviser retired Lt. Gen. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has commented that peacekeeping forces should be sent to India, not Bangladesh.

The Home Affairs Adviser made this comment in response to questions from journalists after the inaugural ceremony of International Volunteer Day 2024 at the Multipurpose Training Ground of Fire Service and Civil Defense in Purbachal, Narayanganj on Thursday (December 5) morning.

During the Question and Answer Session of the winter session of the Legislative Assembly on December 2, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called for sending members of the United Nations peacekeeping force to Bangladesh if necessary. For this, she sought the personal intervention of the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
