No parade on Victory Day this time, but Victory Fair
Like every year, on December 16, there will be no parades and displays with the participation of students at the district and upazila levels on the great Victory Day. However, a 'Victory Fair' will be held instead.
In a special interview with UNB, Farooq e Azam, the adviser on the Liberation War of the interim government, said this.
The adviser on the Liberation War said, Victory Day is a unique day for our nation. The nation achieved this victory after fighting for 9 months. People from all over the country were involved in the war. At one time, this victory festival was held in the villages and all over the country. Gradually, this festival was inactive. This time, Victory Fair will be held at the district and upazila levels across the country.
He said, there will be a fair of agricultural products along with the Charu and Karu fairs. Along with it, domestic products will be displayed. Children, women, and men will participate in the fair. There will be cultural programs here. Everyone will enjoy the joy. There will also be programs in schools.
The adviser said that in the previous conventional parades, there was no public involvement, there were scouts and volunteers. There were other forces with them. There was no direct public involvement in it. This time, children, women, men of all classes will be involved.
In response to a question, he said, this time the parade will not be held at the National Parade Square. Because the army is now busy all over the country. There is a preparation issue for this. So this time the parade is not being held at the Parade Square. Prior preparation is required for this.
Earlier, the Prime Minister used to go to the National Stadium for the Victory Day program. When asked whether the Chief Adviser would go or not this time, he said, no, the Adviser will not go. Such a program is not being held.
He also said that freedom fighters will be felicitated in the program in every district and upazila. Similarly, the district administration here in Dhaka will do the same. This adviser said, earlier the administration used to organize parades, now the administration will organize fairs. Local people of all levels, including freedom fighters from their respective areas, will participate there.
Farooq-e-Azam said, on the occasion of the day, the President and the Chief Adviser will lay wreaths at the National Memorial.
He said, on December 14, the Chief Adviser and the President will go to the National Intellectuals graveyard. There is a program there. Then they will go to Rayer Bazar and a discussion meeting will be organized.
