70 arrested in 88 cases of minority violence: Press Secretary

70 people have been arrested so far in 88 cases of minority violence in the country from August 5 to October 22, said the press secretary to the chief adviser, Shafiqul Alam. He also said that all the culprits will be brought to justice.

He said this at a briefing on contemporary issues organized at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday (December 10).

Shafiqul Alam said that 70 people have been arrested so far in 88 cases of violence against minorities across the country since the political change in the country on August 5 to October 22.

Responding to a question from journalists at the time, Shafiqul said that the government is trying its best to control the market. He said that the price of soybeans increased in the international market in October-November. The government is trying to control the market by monitoring the markets of other countries.

He also said that an international conference on the Rohingya crisis will be organized in Bangladesh in September-October next year.

In response to another question, Muhammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the chief adviser, said that from 2009 to 2024, 1,540 officers who were denied promotion from deputy secretaries to secretary rank had applied to the chief adviser for promotion. In response to their applications, 764 people have been promoted with benefits.
