Tongi Ijtema Maidan is full to the brim
The World Ijtema, one of the largest gatherings of Muslims, has begun with the general sermon after the Fajr prayers. Along with lakhs of Muslims in the country, several thousand foreign Muslims have also come to participate in the Ijtema.
Meanwhile, the police and intelligence agencies are working to prevent unwanted incidents and rumors centered around the Ijtema.
On Friday (January 31), from 10 am, it was seen that Muslims who came to the Ijtema ground from different districts of the country were worshipping in each tent. Some were sleeping, while many were cooking food for the Ijtema fellow pilgrims. Everyone finished cooking in advance and is preparing to offer the first day's Friday prayers.
Ahmed Rafi came to the Ijtema ground from Paltan. He said, "About 300 of us have come. This time the atmosphere is better than before. All of us want peace in the country. May we walk on the path of Islam."
Jamil, who came from Lalbagh in Old Dhaka with 150 companions, said, "I have been here before. The environment and security are much better than in the past. I will seek a solution from Allah for the current problems surrounding Tablighi Jamaat."
It is reported that more than 2,000 devotees from 70 countries around the world, including India, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, have participated in the Ijtema. The organizers have arranged special security for foreign guests. There are separate tents for them. As a result, no one will be able to come in contact with them if they want.
Ziaur Rahman Farooqui, who has come from Peshawar, Pakistan, said, "I have come 5 times so far. The people of Bangladesh are very hospitable. I have come to work hard in the cause of Allah. Allah will reward Bangladeshis well because they have made good arrangements for foreign guests like us. The people of Bangladesh are far ahead in hospitality.
Even if he is a Bangladeshi citizen, he should stay in a foreign room. It is Islam that he should stay in a foreign room." It was learned that even though he is a Bangladeshi citizen, he is actually an expatriate from Kuwait. He brought a Jamaat of 20 people from the country.
He said, we Bengalis who are abroad get messages through Kakrail Mosque. We come on time. We are in Arab tents. There are many beautiful arrangements here. Every tent and tent is being used. Everyone is participating in their own tent. Every phase is being used.
When asked about the thoughts of foreign devotees regarding the attack on the Ijtema ground, he said, we participate in the Ijtema with great sincerity. There is a group working to ruin this beautiful arrangement of Ijtema. They are making a circle of intimidation and preventing foreign guests from coming. This work of dawat and tabligh is the work of Haqq. But to question this work, they attacked and killed innocent and sleeping Muslims.
It is learned that more than 6,500 police and about 10,000 volunteers are working for the security of the Ijtema ground. Along with this, members of the intelligence agency in plain clothes are also working.
Regarding the security of the Ijtema ground, Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Dr. Nazmul Karim Khan said, "The situation is very peaceful at the Ijtema ground. There is no traffic jam around the Ijtema. Long-distance vehicles are plying. People are moving, I am satisfied with the security. We are removing the hawkers who have come to the Ijtema ground." The GMP Commissioner said, "A large number of beggars have come around the Ijtema. This can be a problem for security. If any unwanted incident happens, it can be a problem for them. We will explain and remove them."
