A statement sent by the Education Ministry on Saturday (February 1) said that the Education Ministry and the government are aware of the ongoing movement demanding the conversion of government Titumir College into a university.

The statement further said that the Ministry of Education is informing that an expert committee formed under the leadership of the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) is working to form a separate university by combining the seven traditional colleges of Dhaka. In this regard, the issue of government Titumir College is being considered specifically.

This committee has already started discussing their problems with student representatives of seven colleges, including Titumir College. The main goal of the government is currently to improve the educational facilities and quality of these colleges and all the options to be taken in this regard will be under the government's consideration.

In this situation, there is no logic in holding a movement with a time limit to achieve the announcement of the conversion of Titumir College into a university. Therefore, all those involved in the movement are requested to be patient. The Ministry of Education has called on the agitators to refrain from any programs that cause suffering in public life or disrupt the normal educational activities of ordinary college students. The statement also said that the government is always aware and sympathetic to the just demands of teachers and students from all walks of life.
