Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has arrived Dhaka today on a three-day official visit.

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen received his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar at the VIP Lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9.20pm tonight.

According to the foreign ministry, the Indian External Affairs Minister will visit the Bangabandhu Museum on Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the morning of August 20 to pay respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Both Dr A K Abdul Momen and S Jaishankar will hold a bilateral meeting at the State Guest House Padma at 11am on the same day.

S Jaishankar is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the day.

Earlier on July 29, Momen said Jaishankar’s visit will be a courtesy trip. He said his Indian counterpart accepted his invitation to visit Bangladesh.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali called on the Indian foreign minister in New Delhi in July and conveyed him the Bangladesh Foreign Minister’s invitation to visit Bangladesh.

   

125th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul observed in a befitting manner in Faridpur

The 125th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed here on Saturday night here at Faridpur Shishu Academy auditorium in a befitting manner.

The function to mark the occasion was organized jointly by Faridpur district administration, Fardpur Shilpakala Academy and Faridpur Shishu Academy.

The discussion meeting on the life and works of Nazrul was chaired by ADC(Gen) Md. Yeasin Kabir while it was addressed among others by Deputy Commissioner Md. DC Qamrul Islam in his speech said that rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam dreamt of a secular country where there will be no exploitation, no suppression and classification of rich and poor.
