After 14 years, the Chuadanga District BNP Conference is going to be held tomorrow, November 23. This is the first time in the history of Chuadanga District BNP that such a large-scale conference is being organized in an open field. As such, a huge festive atmosphere has already been created among the leaders and workers.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will be virtually participating in the conference as the chief guest and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be present in person as the inaugurator. The District BNP has already made extensive preparations for the conference, including stage decoration. Banners and festoons have been draped throughout the town and the district. The District BNP Conference is now the focus of discussion among the general public in the district.
Earlier, the Election Commission had announced the schedule for the election of the posts of President, General Secretary and Organizing Secretary with the aim of forming a full-fledged committee of the District BNP through the conference. Adv. Abdul Khalek is serving as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Chuadanga District BNP elections. Adv. Abdur Rouf, Adv. Shahjahan Mukul, Adv. Manik Khandaker and Adv. Milton will act election commissioners.
According to the already announced schedule, one person has collected nomination papers for the post of president, two for the post of general secretary and four for the post of organizing secretary. District BNP convener Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, the only candidate for the post of president of Chuadanga district BNP, submitted his nomination papers. After six hours, it became clear that his nomination as the only candidate was valid. He is the president of Chuadanga district BNP. In addition, the nominations of district BNP member secretary Md. Sharifuzzaman Sharif and district BNP convening committee member Milima Biswas Mili have been valid for the post of general secretary. District Swechchhasebak Dal president Md. Shafiqul Islam Pitu, Damurhuda Upazila BNP leader Mohd. Khalid Mahmud, District Jubo Dal finance secretary Md. Mominur Rahman and Mirza Faridul Islam Shiplu, a member of the district BNP convening committee, have been validated. Except for the president, the elections for the remaining two posts will be held on the day of the conference.
It is learned that the last conference of Chuadanga District BNP was held in 2010 at the Bangaj Factory premises. And the convening committee of Chuadanga District BNP was formed in 2021. The district BNP says that it was not possible to hold the conference at the scheduled time due to the implementation of the central program, agitation, lawsuits, attacks, and arrests. Although a little late, this time the district BNP is going to hold the conference in a big way. Stages and pavilions have already been arranged at the town football field of Chuadanga town, the conference venue. Large arches have been installed at the four entrances of Chuadanga town. Banners and festoons have been draped from the town to different parts of the district. There is a festive atmosphere among the leaders and workers.
The guest list of the central BNP conference has been finalized. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will be participating virtually as the chief guest at the conference. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to be present in person as the inaugurator. The conference will be chaired by District BNP Convener Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu and moderated by District BNP Member Secretary Md. Sharifuzzaman Sharif. It is learnt that BNP central leaders will be present at the conference.
According to district BNP sources, on November 3, 2021, at a time of crisis in the party, the central BNP announced a two-member district committee with Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu as the convener and Sharifuzzaman Sharif as the member secretary. Then, on January 19, 2022, a 31-member convening committee was approved. The convening committee held its first meeting on January 27 that year. In the first meeting, a coordination team was formed with the members of the district convening committee to form the committee through public conferences in 369 wards, 41 unions, 4 pourashavas and 5 police stations of Chuadanga district. That team formed the unit committees through public conferences and elections.
The Election Commission has determined a total of 808 people from the four upazila and four municipal committees of the district as voters for this year's conference. It has been learned from talking to several voters that during the fascist government, BNP could not publicly carry out any large-scale party activities. Earlier too, Chuadanga BNP failed to organize a conference in that way. But this time, due to the changed situation and the decision of the party leaders, a record conference is going to be held. For this reason, a grand arrangement is being seen around the entire conference. And the biggest achievement is that the workers are being evaluated. The workers themselves will elect the leader with their valuable votes. Therefore, the leaders who have looked after the party in difficult times, in good times and bad, and have worked selflessly for the party's interests, are being considered. Again, a thorough analysis is being done about those who will be able to evaluate the workers in the future.
