General Secretary of Swechchasebak League Pankaj Devnath has been directed to be abstained from the activities of ensuing national conference.

After giving relief to Molla Abu Kawsar from the post of the president of the organization for his alleged involvement in Casino scandal, the decision about Pankaj has been disclosed.

A member of Awami League secretarial committee told that, ‘the general secretary of Pankaj Devnath has been directed to remain abstained from the party activities by the party president. Meanwhile party general secretary Obaidul Kader has communicated this message to Pankaj.’

However, another source told that this message of making OSD was communicated by the founder president of Swechachasebak League and now the party organizing secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim over telephone.

When contacted Pankaj Devnath to know the matter over telephone, he did not attend the call.

Pankaj Devnath was elected member of Jatiyo Sangsad for the first time in 10th parliamentary election from Barishal -4. In the last 11th national polls he was also elected from the same constituency.

The national conference of this affiliated body Awami Swechchasebak League was held twice since it was founded in 1994. In the conference held in 2003 Pankaj was elected general secretary with AFM Bahauddin Nasim as president. In conference held in 2012 he was again elected general secretary for the second time. Molla Abu Kawsar was elected president on that time.

The third conference of the organization will be held on November 16 in Shuwhardy Udyan. Other leaders and activists of the organization have been taking preparation to hold the conference without the president and secretary.
