Dhaka: India does not support any statement made by Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted from power through a student uprising, said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
The Indian media outlet ‘The Hindu’ reported this in a report on Thursday (December 12).
The report said that at a briefing of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs led by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday (December 11), Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that India does not support the criticism of the ousted Sheikh Hasina against the interim government of Bangladesh.
He also said that Hasina is using a “personal communication device” to make her comments. The Indian government is not involved in providing her with any platform or facility that enables her to carry out her political activities from Indian soil.
Regarding the relations between the two countries, he said that India’s relations with Bangladesh are not limited to a single political party or government. This relationship is a relationship between the people of India and Bangladesh.
It is worth noting that Awami League President Sheikh Hasina left the country on August 5, facing the onslaught of the anti-discrimination student movement. After that, Sheikh Hasina was warned from Dhaka to keep quiet.
However, recently, several call recordings of Sheikh Hasina have gone viral on social media. In which she criticized Dr. Muhammad Yunus and other advisers.
In addition, Sheikh Hasina also addressed Awami League meetings held in the US and UK through audio conference from India.
