A BNP leader named Kamal Ahmed was hacked to death by masked terrorists at Yad Ali intersection in Naogaon town on Saturday (November 18) at 10 pm.
Deceased Kamal Ahmed is the convener of BNP ward number 9 of Rajakpur Mohalla of Naogaon pourashava.
He was also a member of Naogaon District Truck Transport Arrangements Cooperative Society and the Organizing Secretary of Naogaon Nazrul Academy and a member of Jatiyotabadi Samajik Sanskritik Sangstha (Jasas) Naogaon District Committee.
The brutal attack took place at the Yad Ali intersection of the Naogaon-Santahar highway.
Eyewitnesses said that Kamal (52) was sitting on a motorcycle and talking on a mobile phone. At that time, five to seven youths wearing masks and helmets, Chapati and Desi, cut and injured him with sharp weapons and ran away.
The miscreants hit Kamal with sharp weapons on his head and different parts of his body. When he was rescued and taken to Naogaon Sadar Hospital, the doctor declared him dead. The police could not confirm the cause of the murder.
Faisal Bin Ahsan, OC of Naogaon Sadar Police Station said, "The police are active in this matter and the incident is being investigated." Police are on the spot collecting evidence and trying to identify those involved. The body will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
The OC said that a case will be filed at the police station.
