Apart from Bangladesh, Indian citizens are also known to be involved in the murder of Jhenaidah-4 (Kaliganj) Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar. Earlier it was known that only Bangladeshis were involved in the murder.
On Thursday (May 23), this information was revealed by several officials of the police headquarters and DMP's detective (DB) police.
The identity of the Indian nationals has not been identified so far, said DB sources. They said that 5 to 6 people participated in the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar.
Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police has so far arrested three people on suspicion of involvement in this murder. They are Amanullah Aman, Mostafiz and Faisal, leader of the extremist party Purbo Bangla Communist Party, who directly participated in the murder.
Meanwhile, the name of Silisti Rahman, a girlfriend of Amanullah Aman, has also come up in the murder of the parliament member. However, she has not yet been arrested.
A special team of Indian police is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday to inform about the progress of the investigation into the murder of the parliamentarian and to unravel the mystery. It is not known when they will arrive.
According to DB sources, Akhtaruzzaman Shahin, a United States citizen of Bangladeshi origin, assigned the task of killing MP Azim to the hired killers in a contract of Tk. five crore.
On May 12, MP Anar went to India from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah through border of Darshana- Gede in Chuadanga for treatment. He stayed at the house of a friend named Gopal Biswas on Mondal Para Lane of Baranagar police station in West Bengal. The next day he left the house saying to see the doctor. Since then, Anwarul Azim has disappeared mysteriously.
On May 18, five days after he left home, his friend Gopal Biswas filed a GD regarding Anwarul Azim's disappearance at Baranagar police station. Even then, this three-time Member of Parliament could not be found. On Wednesday news spread that Anwarul Azim was murdered in room BU 56 of a multi-storey residential building called Sanjeeva Gardens in Newtown area near Kolkata.
A case has been registered at Sher-e- Bangla Nagar police station in the capital regarding the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar in India. His daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed the case on Wednesday evening.
Additional Commissioner of DMP(DB) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that the incident is shocking. It is a brutal murder. Anwarul Azim was a popular representative. The common people of his area are stunned. We are working with great importance. He is a three-time Member of Parliament. I am in close contact with the Indian police. Some are detained by us. We are getting various important information from them. For the sake of the investigation, we cannot say everything.
