Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, accused as the mastermind of the murder, claimed that he was framed in the killing of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar.

He claimed this to a press on telephone from the United States.

Shaheen claimed that he was in Bangladesh at the time of the murder. He also denied the contract of Tk. five crore for the murder.

Aktaruzzaman Shaheen said, I have been framed in this incident. I was not in India at the time of the incident. My lawyer has said not to talk to anyone about this. People talk a lot in the country. If there is any evidence, show it.

He said about renting a flat, if I rent a flat, will I do this kind of work in my flat! A look at my passport records shows that I was not there.

He said, now it is being said that I have paid Tk. 5 crore. How I paid Tk. 5 crore! Where did I get so much money! Now what do I have to do if they are people! When the incident happened, I saw it in the newspaper. I was in Bangladesh at that time.

Aktaruzzaman Shaheen said, besides, my driver did not do anything. Gone with my car, everything. It is no kind of judgment! If I have done wrong, then catch me. I will not get justice in this country. I am a citizen of the United States. I came here, what to do!

It may be noted that on May 12, Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar went to India for treatment. After three days passed, the family members could not contact him. When he went to India, he stayed at the house of Gopal Biswas, a resident of 17/3 Mandal Para Lane, Barahnagar Police Station, North 24 Parganas District, West Bengal. He originally went to India from Bangladesh to consult a doctor. Later on May 13, he went out to consult the doctor at noon. Although he was supposed to return that evening, he did not return. Later, Gopal Biswas filed a missing complaint at Barahnagar police station on May 18.

Meanwhile, in a press conference on Wednesday (May 22) afternoon, the Inspector General of Police (CID) of West Bengal, Akhilesh Chaturvedi said, based on some evidence; it is initially believed that Bangladeshi Member of Parliament (MP) Anwarul Azim Anar has been killed.
