Dhaka-Delhi relations have been strained since the political change on August 5. Meanwhile, new tensions have arisen between the two countries over the arrest of Bangladesh Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das. In such a situation, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Bangladesh issue.

According to a report by Indian media outlet NDTV on Thursday (November 28), Foreign Minister S Jaishankar met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Bangladesh issue.

The report said that Jaishankar is likely to make a statement on the Bangladesh issue in Parliament tomorrow. Naturally, it is believed that the country's opposition parties will not raise any objections to this issue.

Bangladesh's tension with India has added a new dimension to the arrest of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson and principal of Pundarik Dham in Hathazari, Chattogram.

On November 25, the Special Investigation Branch (DB) of the police arrested former ISKCON organizer Chinmoy Krishna Das from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on multiple charges, including sedition.

On November 26, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the arrest and denial of bail of the Sanatan Jote leader. In a statement from the country's Ministry of External Affairs, it was said that they express deep concern over the arrest and denial of bail of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatan Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs' statement also said that his arrest came after several attacks by extremists on minorities in Bangladesh. There have been looting and arson in the homes and businesses of minorities in Bangladesh; at the same time, there have been incidents of theft and vandalism in temples.

In response to the statement of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a statement was issued on Tuesday night, saying that such baseless statements by India are against the spirit of friendship and understanding between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the statement of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has come to the notice of the Bangladesh government. This statement has been made on a matter which is an internal matter of Bangladesh.

Stating that Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on specific charges, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry said that even then, the government notes with great disappointment and deep sorrow that some quarters are misrepresenting the incident of Chinmoy Krishna Das' arrest. Such baseless statements (by India) not only misrepresent the truth, but are also against the spirit of friendship and understanding between the two neighboring countries.
