Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement, have filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking the ban of Awami League and cancellation of the party's registration for indiscriminate killings of students and the public.
They filed this writ on behalf of the anti-discrimination movement on Monday (October 28).
It is learned that the writ may be heard in the High Court bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Md. Mahmudur Razi. The writ seeks instructions to prevent Awami League from carrying out any political activities.
Earlier, on October 23, the interim government issued a notification declaring the Awami League's sister organization, Chhatra League, as a 'terrorist organization' and banned it.
