18 killed, 92 wounded in Israeli airstrike in Beirut
Israel launched an airstrike in the central area of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. 18 people were killed and 92 injured in the airstrike carried out on Thursday (October 10) night.

Video footage from Hezbollah-run Al Mana television shows black smoke rising over downtown of Beirut. Reuters witnesses confirmed the attack took place near a gas station in a densely populated residential neighborhood. Since the attack, rescue workers have been carrying out rescue operations using torches.
Israel had no immediate comment on the attack. But on Thursday night the army issued a new evacuation alert for Beirut's southern suburbs, including certain buildings.
Earlier, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) forces said that Israel also fired on the UN peacekeeping forces deployed in the country. A UN source said Israeli tanks fired on the watch tower of the main headquarters in Al Naqwara, injuring two peacekeepers.
