UK issues travel warning in Bangladesh

The UK has issued a travel warning for its citizens in Bangladesh, citing the 'risk of terrorist attacks'.

The warning was issued in a notice on the website of the country's Foreign Office on Tuesday (December 3). The notice advised avoiding unnecessary travel to some areas of Bangladesh.

The notice also said that after reviewing recent events and the law and order situation, it has been learned that terrorists may carry out attacks inside Bangladesh. There is a security risk in some areas of Bangladesh.

In the notice, the FCDO, mentioning the names of Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban, says that there is a risk of violence and terrorist activities in some areas of Bangladesh. In addition, local disputes and clashes with security forces have also played a role in issuing this warning. Travel to some parts of the southeast and the Chattogram Hill Tracts region has been identified as risky.

In this regard, British citizens have also been urged to be vigilant during emergency travel and follow the instructions of the local administration.

The notice also mentioned visiting the FCDO website regularly for security-related information.
