BGB-BSF flag meeting to prevent cattle, drugs and illegal smuggling
A flag meeting was held at the level of the commanders of the border guard forces of the two countries to maintain peace and order on the border by preventing cattle, drug smuggling and illegal infiltration through the Bangladesh-India border.
On Wednesday (July 24) at noon, the flag meeting was held at the Banshjhani High School ground, 300 yards from the International Border Pillar 976/13-S of the Banshjhani border in Maidan BOP area of Bhurungamari upazila. A courtesy flag meeting was held at the battalion commander level with Bangladesh's Kurigram 22 BGB battalion and India's 129 BSF battalion.
In the flag meeting, the BGB delegation of 13 members was led by Kurigram 22 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Abdul Mottakim, SPP, PSC and 14 members from India were led by 129 BSF Battalion Commandant Shri Sanjay Kumar. Staff officers, company and BOP commanders of both countries were present during the flag meeting.
During the flag meeting discussion, increasing the surveillance of BGB-BSF on the border, prevention of cattle and drug smuggling, and prevention of illegal infiltration were given importance. In support of Border Guard Bangladesh's zero tolerance policy, productive discussions were held on stopping drug trafficking and sharing information to resolve any issues. Apart from this, fruitful discussions were held regarding some developmental activities on the border of the two countries and BGB-BSF agreed to resolve any untoward incident in the border area through mutual cooperation and communication in order to maintain the existing peace and order between the two countries.
Commander of Kurigram 22 BGB Battalion, Lt. Col. Md. Abdul Mottakim said that through this flag meeting, both sides have agreed to maintain the existing friendly relations on the border.
